Rock Band 3 Officially Announced |

Harmonix's ground-breaking band game franchise, Rock Band, is set to become a trilogy. Publisher MTV Games announced today that Rock Band 3 is coming for holiday 2010.
The company is pursuing the game in spite of an industry-weakening decline in the once-booming genre of peripheral-equipped music games. Although the franchise has generated over $1 billion dollars to date, the category in general saw sales contract by as much as half throughout 2009.
It also said that due to royalties it would need to be more "selective" about track listings, and that it needs more support from the music industry in that department.
Definitely interesting despite the genre seeming to slope downward as of late, but to be honest, I'd grab this if it offers enough since my friends and I have such a blast with it. This isn't a shock that it's been announced but does anyone think it will truly bring innovative... [Read More]

The Windows 7 phone platform will have the ability to unlock achievements.

Windows Phone 7 games will include the ability to unlock achievements on a phone as well as pulling in a user's gamertag, 2D avatar and even let gamer's know when it's their turn to play.

Apparently MS is going to take another stab at the cell phone market with a definite push for Xbox Live Mobile.

Hey guys and gals, it seems that the good ol' Guitar Hero franchise is struggling. While I'm still a big fan of Rock Band and interested to see what Rock Band 3 has to offer, this doesn't come as a huge surprise.
With such a humongous blockbuster on Activision Blizzard's books, the layman would expect it to post a massive profit. It didn't. Thanks to the intricacies of Wall Street accounting, the company managed to both beat analysts' expectations and lose a sizable amount of money during the same quarter.
According to generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP), Activision reported quarterly revenues of $1.56 billion and a loss of $286 million ($0.23 per share), nearly four times the shortfall of $72 million ($0.05 per share) it reported during the year prior.
