If the Wii does launch on the 6th, does that mean Japan and US launch within a week or so?
An article in Sports Illustrated For Kids has the folks over at
Nintendo Revolution thinking Wii will get some action starting Nov. 6.
It seems there’s an advance scan of a Sports Illustrated article that says the Wii will lunch on or about
Nov. 6, which would give it an 11 day jump on the PS3. This date has been
mentioned in the past, so it does seem a likely candidate.
Remember though that Nintendo hasn’t confirmed a date as of yet, but has in fact given some strong indications as to the early November timeframe. Also, too, remember this information has been obtained from a poorly scanned article from Sports Illustrated For Kids and take it as you will.
Regardless,
Wii will be different than its next-gen (or whatever Nintendo wants to call itself) counterparts. It will be less high tech, more user friendly, have a nifty controller and it will be much more affordable. An advance launch over the Sony PS3 could really help it and if the company manages to get lots of consoles on the market, it might just put a serious hurting on the PS3 holiday action.
Interest in Wii is starting to increase, too, as the official launch draws closer. Considered by some to be the dark horse in the console battle, this one’s affordability and playability might just help it do better against its more
pricey competition. If the key to winning in the sales number race falls in with the
undecided buyers as some (me) have predicted, the Wii could do very well this holiday season and beyond.
Wii will have to wait to find out for sure though.
