I'm playing through the single player campaign in RB6:3 and I've gotten to the level where you have to "bug" the phone and computer, but you can't shoot anyone, you have to get by on stealth alone. The problem is, I can't get more than a few feet into the house without being seen. Being seen, as you can imagine, causes you to fail the mission. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Any hints/tips?

Wait until the first guy travels above you from the right to the left. Then you can get to the end of the hall (foyer) behind the wall on the right (immediately before entering the room where the guy is watching tv). If I remember correctly, I went to the left first and then the right (to avoid being seen by someone on the upper floor on the left overlooking the foyer (for lack of a better word). Tip on the guy watching tv, walk very slowly and just focus on getting upstairs... slowly. He won't look around unless you make noise. I just kept to the left side of the stairs on the first part and then hugged the wall... don't know if it was necessary, but it seemed the common sense thing to do.

Shut your TV , if you can't see them they can't see you.

That'll solve his being seen and having the mission failure, but how will it help him complete the mission? Well?

Not sure I can add much that Aim didn't, but I'll give it a go. The first time through this was the most annoying mission RS3 had to offer. After the previous demolitions/hostage scenarios it kind of throws you for a loop. I didn't even realize it was possibly to move quietly. The key for me was mastering the slow crawl on the joystick and using the radar once you're near the top of the stairs. If you're having problems with the guy watching tv, then you're probably just moving too fast.

I just crept behind the guy watching TV. You don't need to hug the wall or anything, just go slowly. I took the route to the stairs and went up the stairs which goes right to the room that has the phone. You then bug the phone and look out the door downstairs and wait for the guy to walk to the guy watching TV then back to around the kitchen area. I'd save it here if I were you.
You can then walk slowishly to the first hallway on the (Edit) "Left" and there usually isn't a bad guy there. Not too fast or the guy watching tv will hear you. The computer to hack is upstairs. You just need to creep around and do it a few times to get used to where the guys are hiding. It took me like 5 times but I did it. Just watch out after you hack the computer. Save it there too. Wait for a minute quietly then creep out. There's a guy who "thought he heard something" so he went to investigate. And if you pop out too quick it'll get very hard. Wait for him to exit the room and pop him at the entrance when he walks by. From there on in you can kill people. There should be a guy in the bathroom as well behind you. Give him the goods as well. You gotta be careful because the hostage is downstairs and if those bad guys catch wind they will kill him.
If you need more help, just ask. That was one of my fav levels :)

You can go out the other door from the room with the phone and you won't have to worry about disturbing the guy watching tv since you're moving down the back hallway.

I tried that but everytime there was a dude standing right there in that other room who sounded the alarm.

If you're quiet, his back will be to you... don't even look for him, just walk quietly.

If you put your splinter cell disc on top of your rainbow six disk, you can borrow Sam Fisher for that mission.

I had the same problem doing this level then one day I came home from work and my 8 year old son said it was all done....so just ask your kids if you have any or borrow a neighbors child and let them do it.

I used very similar methods to beat several games.
Actually, I did get past that mission in RS3. It took quite some time and practice and I found it very annoying. I think that I searched on Google for "Rainbow Six 3 walkthrough xbox" (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=rainbow+six+3+walkthrough+xbox&spell=1) and found a jem like this one (http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/file/rainbow_six_3.txt).
By the way, even more difficult is the airport because the guy that you are supposed to kill with the bomb sometimes will run after you and start shooting. If you kill him by gun, the mission is over. If you let him shoot you, the mission is over. But two minutes later you kill him anyway with a bomb
